Where is the
Holme Valley?
Holme Valley Parish
Council’s area lies on the edge of the Pennines in West
Yorkshire. It has boundaries with South Yorkshire,
Derbyshire, Greater Manchester to the east and south,
and within West Yorkshire, with Meltham Town Council to
the west, Huddersfield to the north, and Kirkburton
Parish Council to the east. It is some 25 miles from
Sheffield, Wakefield, Manchester and Leeds.
What communities
lie within HV's boundaries?
Its two main centres are Holmfirth and Honley, but the
villages and communities of Brockholes, Cinderhills,
Hade Edge, Hepworth, Hinchliffe Mill, Holmbridge, Holme,
Jackson Bridge, Netherthong, New Mill, Scholes,
Thongsbridge, Upperthong and Wooldale are all within the
Parish Council’s area.
The area is split into
12 wards, as shown in the list of Councillors and on the
ward map. The 23 Members currently represent a population of some
25,000.
