To celebrate this important anniversary, a number of ceremonial events are being organised across the country. V.E. Day, Friday 8th May 2020, is being marked by a Bank Holiday. At 3pm on that day, all pubs will celebrate the 'Nation’s Toast to the Heroes of World War II.' In the evening, at 7pm the bells from churches across the country will 'Ring Out for Peace.'
Holme Valley Parish Council is keen to support local events, projects and parties to mark this key moment in our history. We have therefore set up a specific, small grant scheme with a simple application form allowing local groups to apply for up to £100 to support the implementation of their idea. It is intended that any party or project is focused on the 3-day commemorative weekend 8-10 May 2020. Applications are invited by 3rd February 2020.
