Bus Survey
In December 2007 major changes were made to the Holme Valley Bus Service. Members of the Parish
Council and public fought against these changes and, although compromises were reached
regarding some issues, the majority of the proposed changes went ahead. To see how the changes
were going, a survey was carried out on 29.02.08 of people using the buses in Huddersfield Bus
Station. The feedback I received was not positive. Of the people surveyed over 80% thought the
old bus service was of a good quality whilst 27% had the same opinion of the new service. The
most popular complaints about the new service were the longer journeys, over crowded buses and
a lack of buses to certain areas, although on a positive side many commented that the new service
was more reliable than the old service. In the coming weeks the council will be meeting with
members of Metro and the First Bus Company to discuss the issues which have been raised and
hopefully solutions will be found to solve the existing issues. Cllr Tom Dixon, Hepworth Ward
