New Chair Elected for the Council Year 2025/26

Congratulations to Cllr Glenn Kirkby, Chair of Holme Valley Parish Council 2025/26

At the Annual Council Meeting on 19 May 2025, Holme Valley Parish Council elected Cllr Glenn Kirkby as its Chair for the 2025/26 term. Cllr Lawrence Baylin was elected as Vice Chair.

The meeting also saw the appointment of committee chairs for the year:

  • Planning Committee: Cllr Andy Wilson
  • Service Provision Committee: Cllr Alison Morgan
  • Finance & Management Committee: Cllr Pat Colling
  • Staffing Committee: Cllr Pat Colling

Each committee plays a role in maintaining and enhancing Parish Council services across the Valley. The Finance & Management Committee oversees the Council’s financial affairs, including banking, audit, insurance, assets, grants, and risk management. The Service Provision Committee manages the funding relationship with the local minibus service, youth facilities, allotments, garage rental, maintenance of public benches, war memorials, phone boxes and stone bus shelters and provisions for Christmas trees and decorations, ensuring community resources remain accessible and well-maintained.

The Planning Committee assesses local planning applications, advocating sustainability while addressing resident concerns. It serves as a consultee for Kirklees Council and the Peak District National Park Authority but does not make final decisions on planning matters. Meanwhile, the Staffing Committee is responsible for employee oversight, including training and performance management.
