Holme Valley Parish Council is pleased to see another local grant project taking shape.
Funding awarded in 2024 through the Community Grants Programme helped Just Hoop Basketball create new toilet facilities as part of its ambitious community sports hub in Holmfirth.
The venue, located alongside Turner Brothers, has transformed a former industrial unit into a welcoming space for people of all ages to stay active. Inside, visitors will find a café, gym and basketball practice courts, with plans underway for a full-size competition court to host local league games in future.
The gym features a mix of weight machines and cardio equipment, and memberships are available independently or alongside basketball sessions. The Parish Council’s grant funded the new toilet block, an essential step in opening the building to wider community use.
Cllr Andy Wilson visited the site in October 2025 to see how the funding had been used and to meet project lead Adrien Whittles, who has overseen the redevelopment.
