As Christmas approaches, we’re looking back at how a grant contribution from Holme Valley Parish Council helped bring festive trees to Honley’s streets last year.
Around 20 volunteers worked over several days to install trees outside participating businesses and two large trees at prominent village locations, supported with hot drinks from a local coffee shop.
The Christmas Team reported positive feedback from residents, visitors and businesses, describing the installation as “a seasonal tradition that brings people together, fostering pride and camaraderie.”
After Christmas, the trees were chipped and the mulch used in community gardens – extending the benefit beyond the festive season.
Plans include arts, crafts, talks and performances — opportunities to meet, learn and build friendships closer to home.
