Have Your Say on Planning Policy Changes – Local Sessions in February 2026

The National Planning Policy Framework

The UK Government has launched a public consultation on proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) – the key national document that guides planning and development across England. The draft framework sets out how planning decisions should be made, including how local planning authorities balance housing, infrastructure, environment and economic needs.

Holme Valley Parish Council’s Local Plan Reference Group is inviting residents, community groups and organisations to share their views on these proposed changes before the consultation closes on 10 March 2026.

Why this matters

The NPPF sits at the heart of the planning system. It influences everything from housing and transport to the protection of the countryside and local services. The current consultation proposes significant revisions to the existing framework and seeks views on a wide range of topics including development policies, plan-making procedures, and other planning system changes.

Providing feedback is one of the key ways local people can help ensure that national planning policy reflects the needs and priorities of communities like Holme Valley.

Why Your Input Matters

National planning policy helps shape decisions on things like where new homes go, how infrastructure is delivered, how local character and countryside are protected, and how communities grow. Getting involved now means making sure the voices of people who live and work here are heard at the earliest stage in the process.
