Kirklees Council is undertaking a full update of its Local Plan, a process required every five years to ensure the plan remains relevant and effective.

The initial review, completed in October 2023, revealed the existing plan was in need of updating in several key areas, including housing and employment land supply, and in relation to climate change policies. The update will address these issues and set a vision for Kirklees up to 2043.

In order to contribute to the review, Holme Valley Parish Council established a reference group, comprising Councillors, community stakeholders and experts. This group has already submitted a response to the initial public consultation and will be continuing to liaise with Kirklees on future updates. The Review Group is currently compiling a detailed report covering key areas of concern to residents in the Holme Valley.

Come along and contribute to shaping the vision for Kirklees through to 2043. No need to register, just drop in. And please spread the word to anyone who cares about local food and land.

Can’t make it? We still want to hear from you—email your thoughts to be part of the conversation. Cllr Whitelaw will be collating comments from those who are unable to attend, click here to view the contact page and send an email.
