The Finance & Management Committee meets every six to eight weeks, with authority to make decisions on the Council’s banking and audit arrangements, donations, and insurance and risk management. The Committee also awards grants. It is also responsible for the Council’s general office and administrative arrangements, management of the Council’s tenancies and six public clocks, and agreeing any training requirements for Officers and Councillors. It manages the day-to-day protection and access to information under the Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation and is responsible for the Council’s accreditation to the Local Council Award Scheme.
After consultation with the other Committees, we meet in the autumn to prepare a draft Annual Budget which is then recommended to Council and a final budget must be approved and adopted by full Council. This usually happens in February.
Copies of all financial related policies, annual returns and annual audit reports are provided in the Financial Policies & Reports section of the Finances page.
