The Finance & Management Committee meets every six to eight weeks, with delegated authority to make decisions on the Council’s banking and audit arrangements, donations, and insurance and risk management. The Committee also awards grants. It is also responsible for the Council’s general office and administrative arrangements, management of the Council’s tenancies and six public clocks, and agreeing any training requirements (for the Officer and Members). It manages the day-to-day protection and access to information (under the Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation) and is responsible for the Council’s accreditation to the Local Council Award Scheme.
The Committee meets in early autumn to commence the preparation of the draft annual Budget for the next financial year. Following consultation with the other Standing Committees as to their annual budget requirements, the Committee will then make any recommendations to the full Council. The Council will formulate its budget policy and must approve and adopt the final version of the Budget and agree the Council’s precept, normally in February each year.
